Google Assistant app now makes its way to the Play Store

Google Assistant, which was launched along with the Pixel and Pixel XL devices last year, has been an impressive digital assistant for Google. The company has made it available outside of the Pixel devices and also on devices running Marshmallow in some cases. In the latest move, a Google has added a Google Assistant app on the Play Store in a move to ensure faster updates.

But those with non-Assistant supporting devices, should not rejoice just yet. The Google Assistant app will only work on phones which support it — ones running Android Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo. The Assistant app does not come with any new features on-board, but basically acts as an entry point into Assistant. You will no longer have to say ‘Ok Google’ out loud or long press the home button to activate Assistant. Simply tap the Assistant app and you are good to go.
